Antique 19C Georgian inlaid crossbanded burr walnut desk, writing table or dressing table.
Very rare and unusual with lovely proportions and styling.
We believe that piece of furniture has 19C origins, but (in common with much desirable walnut furniture) has had quite a lot of alteration and restoration at some point in its life. Buy it for what it is...a very attractive quality walnut desk or dressing table, with a great age and colour, with a high aesthetic and functional value, but not a huge antique value.
This is a rare and sought after style of desk, which is quite hard to find, especially with these proportions.
The oak lined drawers all slide freely.
Great shell carved cabriole legs and herringbone banding.
This piece of antique furniture would look great in the right location and is attractive and aesthetically very pleasing, with a great sense of age and charm.
Overall dimensions 1220mmW x 550mmD x 770mmH.
Historical knocks, marks, cracking, veneer imperfections, historical distortion, repairs and alterations as is usual for an item such as this. Some ink staining to the drawers as you would expect. There is some historical woodworm that has been treated for good measure (almost always the case with 19C walnut/oak furniture).
Please note that this desk is too heavy and awkward for one person to carry safely. The customer will need to provide 1 able-bodied person for our driver to assist with carrying.
