Full of authentic charm and character, this very large 19th Century mahogany bookcase/ display cabinet is a fine example of quality Georgian craftsmanship, with a simple and clean design. While recently restored to a good standard and fitted with new felt lining, it retains a rich colour, age, and patina.
A rare and impressive decorative find, this bookcase would make a wonderful statement piece in the right setting. It is structurally sound with no loose joints, and benefits from working catches and keys to both the glazed upper section and the cupboard base. The piece separates into two halves, making transport and installation easy.
Condition
Very good antique condition overall, showing minor historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, repairs, and alterations consistent with functional period furniture. There are just a few historic extinct woodworm holes, treated for good measure. Later back.
